Future Initiative

Community Resilience

Before the storm, a neighbor checks on a senior. After the storm, a neighborhood knows how to respond. Your gift helps launch FAMA's Community Resilience Core.

What This Area Does

Community Resilience is a future FAMA initiative — designed to treat a neighborhood like living infrastructure that can prepare, respond, and recover together. It builds on the relationships and volunteer teams FAMA already has in place.

Your gift helps us move this initiative from concept to launch: building resident readiness, standing up volunteer teams, identifying vulnerable neighbors before the emergency, and coordinating recovery when the worst happens.

Three Phases

Prepare. Respond. Recover.

Prepare

Resident census, emergency communications, volunteer teams, and senior/vulnerable resident identification.

Respond

Neighborhood communication, senior check-ins, volunteer deployment, and damage/needs identification.

Recover

Cleanup, resource navigation, long-term recovery, environmental restoration, and community coordination.

Help develop Community Resilience Core through resident outreach, communication planning, volunteer preparation, and vulnerable-resident support. This initiative is in development; gifts support approved launch priorities rather than an already operating emergency-response promise.

The Grant Park demonstration is proposed at $330,000 over 12 months, subject to funding and partner agreements. Request a conversation about becoming a founding resilience partner.

Help Launch Resilience

Resilience is built before the emergency. Your gift helps FAMA stand up a coordinated core that prepares, responds, and recovers — neighbor alongside neighbor.
